LOS GALLOS: BIO

LOS GALLOS

From Playing Antone's and Threadgills in Austin to Houston to the Rio Grande Valley, the energy and sound of LOS GALLOS is gathering steam and they are spreading their original brand of music across the Southwest and beyond.

A unique blend of musicians that are dedicated to their hot, hot brand of Texas-based, style of music, Los Gallos is a melting pot of original groove-oriented rhythm & blues, Latin and rock sounds. Think of a jam session with Carlos Santana and Stevie Ray Vaughn and you have Los Gallos.

In 2007 they released their CD “Getting the Groove” to rave reviews. Lead singer and lead guitarist Rick Lugo, who hails from San Benito, Texas, home of the late Freddy Fender, wrote all of the songs on the CD. Rick is an Educator of our youth of America. Ricky’s Songs reflect the moods, feelings, tempos and rhythms of growing up in the climate and culture of Southwest Texas.

Their debut CD, "Getting the Groove" showcases their original hits Maria Marisol, Free the People and Amor Prohibido. The Song Maria Marisol was recently featured on the compilation CD “Operation: Rock the Troops” on the Bare Metal Record Label. The CD was sent to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for Christmas.

Los Gallos were named one of the top 10 Latin Contemporary Bands in the Austin Chronicle Music Poll for 2007. The fans have spoken, for the second year in a row in 2008 Los Gallos were again voted in the Top 10 Latin Contemporary Bands in the Austin Chronicle!
